jacob-nielsen.jpgDr. Jakob Nielsen’s annual report on web habits reveals that people are becoming more impatient when they go online.  Today’s users want to reach a site quickly.

Since users have become accustomed to the web their success rates of achieving what they set out to do online have increased to 75% compared to 60% in 1999.  Users have also become more resistant to distractions, such as promotions and editorial choices, and gets frustrated with all the extra applications on websites.

Dr. Nielsen also found that most users rely on search engines to take them directly to the sites they are looking for, and that only 25% of users travel via a homepage compared to 40% in 2004.
